Welp, I officially have a 5 year old! It's the most crazy, the most exciting, the most emotional, and the most...all the things.
Being born in the winter is sometimes tricky. LA decided to have the rainiest season ever - floods and sinkholes (Omg, did you see it on the news?! It was so close to us!). But we still managed to have a fun time and K said she had SO much fun for her birthday week.
Brunchin'
We started it off with a visit from Granny for a pre-birthday brunch!
| my kids are recently obsessed with bob's big boy as you may have noticed. |
| opening gifts. |
| showing off her "real" ring - so fancy with her birthstone. |
Zoo
The day before her birthday we went to the zoo. My kids are major zoo fans and basically want all the animals as pets. Also, Daniel Tiger was there! The line to meet him was the longest ever and I regretted it until I watched how excited the girls were to meet him. Plus, this is the last year K will likely care about meeting PBS characters. Nooooooo! Age 5, please don't let the magic die.
| giraffe lovers. |
| this baby monk was killing me! totally showing off all the tricks. |

2/20/17
For her actual birthday we did all the Simpson morning classics - donuts, balloons, presents, and Denny's (traditions since 1983)! It was gloomy and rainy and oh ya, President's Day. So of course, all the places we had planned to go to were closed. I should have thought of this sooner. We ended up staying home, played with all our new toys, went out for pizza, and home for ice cream ('cause 3/4 of the Simpsons don't eat cake).
| 5 donuts for age 5. oh my, the sugar rush that will occur when she's 18. |
| counting balloons - 6 total (5 for age, plus 1 to grow) |

| this one too. |
Knott's Berry Farm
Simpsons and Peanuts go together like peanut butter and bread. For reals y'all. You know the Simpsons passion for all things Charlie Brown. I wish I could say a million positive things about this final birthday celebration but it...was...hard. The rain quickly put a damper (quite literally) on our day and we turned into "that family" at the theme park. You know, the one with cranky parents and crying children. K didn't want to go on any rides which was frustrating and the rain, omg, the rain. Fortunately, the sun popped out towards the end of the day and all the smiles! Both kids said they had the most fun ever. I hope they remember that part.
