Putting On My Swimsuit, Hairy Legs and All

In the past two weeks, my family has spent a lot of time in the water. We beached, we pooled, we splash padded, we splash padded again, and then we water parked. That's A LOT of swimsuit time. Not just for the little ones, but for me too. And guys, I am nowhere near my "ideal" swimsuit body. I've got love handles, chunky thighs, translucent pale skin, and often stubbly legs. Just to name a few. But when it comes to having fun with my kids, I don't care. See, the thing is (and I've seen a few other articles like this), when my kids are having fun, I'm having fun! I forget that I don't look like Allessandra Ambrosio. My kids don't care that I don't look like a Victoria Secret model, and that I look like I have a pregnant pooch even though I'm not pregnant. They aren't going to remember that my legs were hairy when we went to Hurricane Harbor as a family. What they will remember from our summer days, is that I put on my swimsuit and let them bury me in the sand, cannon balled into the pool, and went down the water slides with them (even though I scraped my bum and broke my toe)

We've had some of the best summer days lately. And honestly, if I didn't put on my swimsuit, they wouldn't have been nearly as fun. Mama friends (and Dada friends), I urge you to put on yours too! Put your swimsuit on when your kids are little. Because in another 10 years, they may not want to hang out with their mom at the beach. But until that time comes, I'm putting on my swimsuit.

Maybe next year I'll have a "beach body". But if I don't, I don't care. I'm still putting one on.

Some photos from our recent water days. Not many of me in my swimsuit though, as I am usually the one taking the photos.

BEACH - Will Rogers State Beach (Malibu, CA)

Nakey Barbie!

Quintessential getting buried in the sand.

Playing nicely! Had to be documented.

According to Kenley, you cross your legs when you are angry. She was mad she had to hang with the babies for a few minutes before going down to the waves.

No fear! Even Eleanor has decided she is too old to hold my hand! GASP!

I breed beach lovers.

California Kids.

Trying to get 3 little ones to look at the camera. Real Life.

Thanks for beaching with us Lauren and Amelia!

That awesome age where she can help drag all the stuff.

FRIEND'S POOL - Santa Clarita, CA

Poolside with my mini.

Playing "Get the Crab"!

She's more of a "dip my toes in the pool" kinda gal.

Best Friends Noodling.

"Where we off to next mama?"

Splash Pad - Sylmar Park (Sylmar, CA)

Splash hoarder.

Probably my least favorite Splash Pad but she loved it. All that matters.

So much happiness!

Nakey Rapunzel.

Sisters and Rainbows. Love.

Spash Pad - Pacific Park (Glendale, CA)

How we do hot days in the summer. And free!

A CLOTHED Barbie! Miracle.

Weird how she's one of the "big" kids now.

E - I'll just sit in the middle. I'm to cute for someone to tell me to move.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor (Valencia, CA)

Castaway Cove! The little kids area. SO FUN!

Puddle Jumper Posers.

"See Mom! It's not scary! It's fun!"

Brave K.

Mostly she wanted to eat. But between snacks, she also went down the slides.

Lounging poolside, with a snack of course.

Wet hair, no makeup, don't care.

Basically she kills poolside.
